When pieces of ice fall from Vatnajökull glacier into Jökulsárlón, they undoubtedly wreck on the black sand beach a few meters away, after being caught by tide. The first time I went to this beach was after a wonderful sunset I spent photographing the famous glacial lagoon. Rain started to fall and I did not have much opportunities to photograph these lonely icicles melting on the beach. I was a bit desperate as it was one of the subjects I was the most excited about to photograph in Iceland. After setting up the tent in a camping some 30 kilometres away, rain stopped. I decided to go back there and give these icicles another chance. But luck was definitely not on my side this day and barely arrived, rain started again suddenly. I waited, again and again … but had to resign. There is however one shot I made this day I was (and still am) happy with.
