I just returned from leading two photo tours in Iceland. Both were amazing, both were very different - mainly because of the weather.

The weather on Iceland is very unpredictable and it can literally change in just a few minutes. On our first tour we had all the typical Icelandic weather: rain, clouds, snow, and lots of wind. We actually got stuck because of that for a couple of days. On the second tour however, we had no rain, the occasional sunshine, some clear nights, and lots of wind.

Clearly the landscape looks different every time the weather changes, and this is just one of the things that makes Iceland so interesting for a photographer.

This image of two Icelandic horses was shot on last year's tour when we got a few days with menacing clouds. I manually exposed for the sky and just let the horses turn into silhouettes.
