Just NW of Kahului is the entry to the Ioa Valley, part of the West Maui Volcano. This is a true representation of tropical forest, everything is green and rains all the time. In the 10 days that I stayed on Maui I have not see one day without clouds above the range, no wonder is among the wettest places on Earth.

The day before it started raining slowly but steadily and it was still raining at 5 AM when I made my way to the Valley. On the first try we couldn't even see the "Needle" so we went back to the car to wait it out for a little. Luckily at about 6:30 there was a window where it stopped raining for just enough time to take a few shots. Out of the 15 or so shots that I took within 20 minutes this was the only one that had a little sky in it. 5 minutes after this is was back to all gray and rain. Very lucky to get a nice shot.
