To see, feel, smell and hear the fight between lava and the ocean truly is a once in a lifetime experience. I was absolutely mesmerized by the show.Me and my dad reached the place of entry in the ocean after about 3 hours of walking on top of the lava shell that has been pilling up for the past 20 or so years. By no means is this an easy hike, and definitely not one to be made with open water shoes and no socks! By end of the trip I had dozen or so rock "needles" imbedded in my feet, not much fun. Also once we saw the show and took all the pictures that I wanted we started back around 8 pm, with a lantern and no moon to guide us. After 4 hours of walking, almost getting lost a couple of times, a few falls and scratches here and there, we reached our car soaked and dead tired but with wonderful memories.
