Well I went to the Great Smokie Mountains yesterday to see if I could get images of the black bears coming out of their winter sleep. It was not a disappointing trip at all. It seemed that the weather was good and warm enough for all the critters to come out and enjoy the warm spring. As Donna and I were driving around we came up on the mother sow and her 3 cubs and before I could get the camera out to try my new Canon 1Dx, the sow and her three cubs went up a large tree and stayed there for hours. As you can see in this image, the 1Dx performed nicely, but the bears did not. With trying to keep the right distance away from her and her cubs, it was hard to get all of them in a family portrait. Here is 2 of her cubs.
