Milky Way & Incoming TideNew Hampshire SeacoastThis shot is from last weekend (April 6th). I almost didn't bother working on this photo because it is so similar to my current Facebook banner photo, but I still like it, and editing practice is always good because these night photos require quite a bit of work. Unless you're NASA and have tons of money to spend on electronic imaging sensors and lens optics, with modern camera gear it is physically impossible to capture a scene like this in one exposure. So multiple exposures must be blended to get the sky in focus with the stars not blurring, and the midground and foreground in focus and bright enough to have detail. This particular shot was a focus stack of 4 images, but sometimes I'll stack just 2 or as many as 8 or 9, it depends on the scene, and in this case the tide was going to put my boots under water if I didn't move so I didn't have time to take another shot with focus for the very near foreground.
