I am presently in Argentina, awaiting my imminent return to the US following 25 days of photographing the Patagonian mountains. I would like to share this image I made (I had a bit of a red-light theme going in my portfolio here lately, so may as well keep it going) from a unique vantage point, overlooking the famous Salto Grande and Torres Del Paine. This is NOT my favorite nor best image I made during this trip, but it is telling of the tremendous qualities of light I found in this region, positioned as perfectly as any in the world for a great sunrise. In fact, the colors you see here were modified little and during my 25 days I was fortunate enough to catch light this good on at least half of them! This was taken as a rainstorm cleared just as the sun was first making its appearance, hence the slightly hazy, subdued background. To obtain this vantage point I backpacked off-trail for two days through dense, thorny, fire-burned brush which proved a little more significant an undertaking than I suspected based on mileage alone, but worth it to get a better perspective. I then waited here for two more days to catch the light you see rendered in this photograph. The other side of the falls, complete with parking lot and everything was only 300 meters away! Thanks for any comments you may have.
