Having shot Sylvia Falls, in the Valley of the Waters, many times before, I tried this morning for a new perspective, rather than the usual places at the base of the falls. This shot was taken on the side of the track down from Empress Falls. Another difference today was losing my mobile phone. The receiver for the wireless remote had a flat battery after a few shots, so I was using the phone as a stopwatch with old cord remote shutter before it too packed it in. The phone slipped out of camera vest pocket below Empress Falls as I knelt to refocus the lens. Straight into the raging torrent fuelled by days of rain. Another difference today was seeing a waterfall flowing from under Queen Victoria Lookout into the valley, just beyond Sylvia Falls and a drop of several hundred feet. The early morning sun caught the cascading water on the way down. Incredible sight, but I had the wrong lenses.
