I have the same setup (5D Mk II, 15mm Fisheye), but never succeeded in astro photography.
At 30 sec, wouldn't you get the start trails?

Larry, with your setup you can take an exposure of up to 40s without the star trails, look up the rule of 600. Basically it is 600/focal length = time and in your case it would be 600/15 = 40s. Keep in mind that the formula changes to (600/focal length)/crop factor = time for crop sensors, but your 5D is a full frame camera so crop factor does not apply to your setup.
