I had spent most of the day at the botanical garden and had resigned to watching the beautiful sunset going south on the I-5. I decided to pull over in Del Mar to see if I could take some photos next to the cliffs. I get there and there is no parking to be found so I decide to take the scenic ride home up Torrey Pines Rd. I'm cruising next to the coast and I see a spot at the end of the parking lot next to the beach. I swoop in and rush out to find something, anything, but the sun goes down and I admit defeat. As I walk back I taste salt, not from sea spray, but from a lonely tear carving an intricate path into my mouth. Looking around to make sure no one sees me in shambles, I notice the sky is not done doing its thing yet. Oh no, it turns into this crazy spectacle and it brings the moon along for an after party that goes way into the night. The beach is littered with these pebbles so I find a comfy spot and take a vertorama so I can get as much color/sky in as possible. Redeemed, I spit out my tear and leave happy.
