The CGI/anime feel is because this version is 100% Pixel Bender Oil Paint (that's an Adobe plugin for CS5 and is integrated to CS6), hence the effect to the leaves. Makes them look much less scrunchy and old than they really were.

Have done other versions (which I think are better, but have not reposted here), where I have layered the Pixel Bender version with lowered opacity back with the original.
