This is one of my favorite images from my trip to the big island. It just really fascinates me. When you are driving along the highway that circles the island, you pass a bridge that goes over a canyon that almost makes you have an accident because it's so beautiful. Steep walls hug a stream, and at the top of the canyon is a big waterfall. I came back to this spot and did some shooting. This was probably the most interesting part about the canyon. One wall had just enough of a slope to it that palm trees could still grow, but the wall was so steep, that when looking at it from the front, it appears to be a vertical wall of palm trees growing out of each other. I love it. I actually descended this hill to get to the stream and waterfall below. It was not easy, and I laughed later on when I went to make my way back up because I found a rope system someone had put in to help people get up and down this hill to go swim in the pool below the falls. Would have been nice to know, because as you can imagine, descending the hill you are looking at right here, was super sketch. Grab a tree, slide down the hill reaching for the next tree, pray, relief... ok next tree. Ugh!
