Now that our travels are slowing down, I have been spending some time processing images from our two trips to Iceland. It may be shocking to many of you that I still process photos since I have not posted anything for months! On our first trip, I had problem after problem with my camera equipment. During what I thought would be our only stop to photograph the striking Kirkjufell mountain, we had a really colorful sunset which was convenient since both my borrowed back-up camera and wide-angle lens were not working. I had been focusing my time on the three-pronged waterfall that is the most popular shot at this location. Truth be told, I was only photographing it because the waterfall is “THE THING” to photograph at that location, even though I personally didn’t really find the scene all that appealing in person. Still, I found the area really beautiful and was disappointed in myself that I had not tried other things since I was not feeling it at the waterfall. We somehow ended up back at this spot unexpectedly during some stormy weather and I decided to focus instead on the small reflecting pool and this much simpler scene.
