The Red-legged Honeycreeper is on average 12.2 cm long, weighs 14 g and has a medium-long black, slightly decurved, bill. The male is violet-blue with black wings, tail and back, and bright red legs. The crown of its head is turquoise, and the underwing, visible only in flight, is lemon yellow.Ok, so imagine my excitement seeing the honey creepers for the first time... it was off the hook, having never seen one before in the wild, i didn't know weather to photograph or just admire this beautiful, active, and quite vocal bird..... They are one of the many active fruit, and pollen feeders we will encounter daily within the tropical forests, and adjoining clearings. Click on image to darken...
