Walking down the Bund (外滩)in Shanghai isn't always that easy because it's pretty much packed 24/7 by tourists from all over the world. During my stay in Shanghai, I went to the less crowded part of the Bund, called 十六铺 (16th Pier), used to be one of the biggest ports for passenger vessels in east Asia, built in the early 20th century. Since two decades ago, cars and air travel overtook water travel as the main means for transporting people, 十六铺 gradually become less used and was converted for tourism ships only in the last decade. It has now become part of Shanghai tourist attraction together with 外滩 (The Bund) with all the modern decoration and lights. To be honest I haven't seen a port more beautiful than this.
