I have already posted this image on FlickR. While reading people's comments there I find myself amused at and fascinated by how differently people perceive photography – and how different their views are from my own. Some focus on the boy, some on the processing. Some emphasize the fact the the photographer isn't visible in the mirror. Now, don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with these comments and I appreciate each and everyone of them because they extend my own perception, thus gradually turning me into a slightly better photographer someday (hopefully).
However, I think that now, after three days and 13 comments, it is time to express my view: While persons in front of a mirror without their mirror images really isn't a new concept, I find it fascinating that in this image the boy himself missing while his mirror image is there. It adds some touch of mystery to the image that I tried to emphasize by adding the blur to the edges of the image.
