CHANNELLED CHAOS:
What can seem to be a mundane or insignificant part of our daily routine is essential to the whole “equation”; according to my layman’s understanding of "Chaos Theory"*. This is mirrored in our visual world too. Travelling the same routes many times, as we meander through our villages, towns and cities, we stop observing. We can amble along, simply channelled by the physical boundaries of roads, walls and barriers, until we reach our destination – on auto pilot. We see nothing because we think there is nothing to see. However, just occasionally, if we deliberately take time and look at the details, shapes and textures of the apparently bland surfaces surrounding us, we can start to pick out the significant part of that “equation”. *(The main precept behind this theory is the underlying notion of small occurrences significantly affecting the outcomes of seemingly unrelated events. Also referred to as "non-linear dynamics")
