I've been fortunate to have a lot of my photo work published over the years but this shot remains one of my personal favorites.
On a visit to Jackson Hole with my wife, we stopped at Elk Ranch Flats and this friendly horse walked over on a beautiful day and helped me set up the shot that literally went around the world. Its been on book covers, a worldwide ad campaign, a music cd, several calendars and apparently resonates with a lot of viewers because it represents an era when the west was wide open spaces with very little civilization.
I've reworked the shot a bit with the latest software that did not exist when I first took the shot in 2006, but the basic buidling blocks never change:
