I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of homeless begging in the streets, at parks and even in outdoor cafes'. Locals walked right by, never seeming to notice.
I have worked with the homeless in the US trying to rehab back into the work force.( see Dorothy Day center of St. Paul) Most are mentally ill, addicted to drugs or some other ailment. I found the homeless in Italy with similar conditions and my need to offer help overwhelming, yet I felt powerless....
I have been approached from several different sources to purchase this print. I will not sell it for the woman in the photo was blind and did not know I took this picture.
