Mt Shasta Moon Dandelions - Northern California

Striving to make unique photographs can be tough. I can count thousand of dandelions photos taken with a macro lens but how often do you see them in a landscape photograph? Not claiming to be only the photo w/ dandelions in a landscape it's merely something I see as a rarity. Just a thought to share...

Been messing with changing over the new smugmug sight, I've got too many galleries so it's been taking days to so far! It will look far better then before so the time is well worth it!

Why these settings? You could imagine the how much depth of field would be needed at 40mm. That's why I shot at f18 you could do this at more open aperture but then you need more images and you have to bracket the exposures for depth of field. Any slight wind and you miss the sharpness in the closest objects, ie, the dandelions. Battling the wind is not easy and sometimes you lose but knowing the many options digital photography offers a photographer can help you beat the wind.

This shoot wasn't supposed to happen, my car battery died and I had it jumped at Lava Tubes Nat'l Monument miles north of here. I left the car running at the roadside while I stayed very close the car and photographed a field of wildflowers and the little beauties at dusk. I ended up in the town of Red Bluff waiting at a Sears like a homeless bum to get a new battery to get the old house moving again....
