Location: Kruger National Park, South Africa
Background: We'd been looking for leopards for over 4 days in the northern region of the Kruger National Park, without much success. On our last morning as we were leaving the area for good, we came across a young leopard hidden deep in the mopani and palm-shrub foliage along the Shingwedzi river. We waited patiently, but it didn't emerge, instead gazing at us through the foliage. I captured this frame, and I love how it says so much about the elusive and secretive nature of these predators.
