It's not often that I do a star trail shot, but on this specific night it just felt right. The conditions were calling out to me. We were shooting in a very dark area of Lake Cuyamaca. The heavy storm clouds broke for only about an hour, allowing us to view the Milky Way.
I also decided to create a star trail/stacking tutorial while I worked on my image. I hope you all enjoy the tutorial, it just might take away some of the mystery of star trail photography. First we use StarStax for a basic method and then we dig deeper with Adobe Photoshop.
