After a few weeks of talking about working together, Nicole and I finally were able to get together this past Monday to work on some portraits and ideas for her upcoming album. We've got a few other sessions planned to fine tune some cool ideas she's come up with but I was happy to work out some ideas in person as well. I packed up my Think Tank Photo Airport Roller with my 3 Legged Thing tripod, Brian, the Aurora Firefly, my new Sigma 35mm and my Canon 100mm macro.
I've gotten some great feedback from friends regarding lighting and know I still have a long way to go. Flashes are great because they're light and portable, but I'm still playing with trial and error figuring out exactly what it's going to do until it actually fires. With studio lights, at least you have a modelling light to get a sense of where the light will fall off and how shadows will form as you're positioning everything. In the meantime, I'm grateful for the patient models and friends that allow me to figure this out with them in front of the camera. :)
