The simple goal here was to maximize the stacking effect of the amazing sandstone folds in this beautiful SW canyon. It took wading up to my chest in muddy water, spending two days at the location (first day to carefully study the light - taking "test shots" - and the second day to optimize the very best moments of light) not to mention below freezing conditions at night with an insufficient sleeping bag (my bag was rated at -15 but I found it intolerably/dangerously cold even around +20 - so the second night I slept in my truck cab . Luckily REI has a GREAT return policy!
I'm sad, in only one way, to say I'm moving back to Oregon (from Vegas) because I will certainly miss immediate access to the unparalleled wonders of the SW. Yet, I have workshop/tours booked this year, so my residence change won't keep me away! But having said that, the NW is my true heart.
