This was one of my target birds when we went out of Arizona, and I wasn't sure that I would get to see one (thinking of the quail/bobwhites around the east). But they were pretty much everywhere, including feeding right off of the back porch of where we were staying, which made it easy to see (but still tough to photograph, as they were very wary despite the addiction to crack[ed corn]).
Shari and I also got to see a Gambel's x Scaled Quail hybrid at Dave Jasper's "Big Thicket" north of Portal, although my photograph doesn't do it justice.
