One of the most exciting afternoons I've had shooting photography. These are the Mesquite sand dunes in death valley. A front had just passed through the day before, and left high winds in it's path. I knew what that meant for the sand dunes, so I headed there. Sand blowing everywhere, which makes for some awesome looking photos with the sun back lighting the sand drifts coming off the tips of the dunes, and some pain as the sand spray stings your face should you make the mistake of facing the direction of the wind. I couldn't have asked for a better moment. It was spiritual to say the least. Glowing sand drifts, perfect lines, God rays coming from the sun, and a lone hiker braving the elements to try and also experience the moment.
I had sand in my ears for 3 days after that.
