Thanks to our DSPA Captain Saurabh R. Desai’s persistent insistence, I & Neha made a 3 day trip to Jamnagar. Inspite of RIL & ESSAR having huge refineries there, the city is still a small, lazy, run down coastal town, which needs some serious upkeep inputs from the “Vibrant Gujarat Honchos. The town’s open air loos, decaying solid waste & gutters flowing out to the waste lands, give an entirely different twist to the great Big B’s tag-line “Khusboo Gujarat Ki!” In-spite of these shortcomings, there are certain “foreign & native feathery avian visitors” who don’t mind flying thousands of miles every year to this town! Yes, Jamnagar is a winter haven for some 400 migratory birds. The nearby coral islands, the nature sanctuaries makes this town an absolute must for all nature lovers & photography enthusiasts. In our short stay we saw more than 65 beautiful birds. For nature lovers, Jamnagar is sheer “Ocular Orgasm!” Indeed - “Kuch Din to Guzaariye Gujarat Mein!”
