At one time this southern most stretch of Iceland near the town of Vik was one of the top ten most beautiful beaches in the world. I think it still is.

Within the beauty lies great danger though. There is no landmass between the shores here and Antarctica and the seas can be strong and unpredictable. While standing to take this photo the waves came in shore by an additional 70 ft. You need eyes in the back of your head here.
