Ricardo, Photography is about enjoyment, don't allow others to take away your enjoyment by pretending they know everything. You have to avoid the Camera Police too who will tell you a good photograph can only come from a Canikon.

Wow, what a thread I stumbled upon here. Ricardo, I have to agree with you. A photograph should be special in its own right, not a mere record of something else; otherwise, it's simply redundant--of secondary importance at best, the residue of reality instead of a contribution to it. As for the issue of saturation, well, that's really a question of style, which is a separate subject. At any rate, I clicked on this photo because of the wonderful sense of Fall that it communicates. Cheers, Phrasikleia.

Great tones, nice color changes. Before, it was chemicals and darkroom, now, it's Photoshop, Lightroom, or anything else. It's the same spirit and creativity

You may have a philosophy of minimal photo manipulation. Your criterion of evaluation is a photo appear as "real" as possible. I have a philosophy of experimentation and to have the courage to create, to dare my own vision. You can see that some people like the results. But is unanimity possible in art? This photo was taken in adverse conditions, I tried a different vision for it, its problems do not stem from an alleged over saturation, because I know the original version. I might try other versions but there would always be someone with the burned retinas whatever the results. When popularity is longed in art, the results are random whatever your technical ability, see the examples I wrote 3 days before or in http://www.nytimes.com/2007/04/15/magazine/15wwlnidealab.t.html

I think the oversaturation just burnt my retinas. You really need to go easy on them sliders. Nothing against using Photoshop or whatever software tools, as long as they are used for good and not evil. This photo is kind of almost crossing that line. It's a beautiful image otherwise, but when you oversaturate something to the point of clipping out detail (see the pink trees above the dock), or bringing out noise (overall image, especially water), then maybe it's time to take it down a notch.
