On nice days with good steady tradewinds, I like climbing to the top of Makapu'u Point and watching the hang gliders soaring back and forth. Sometimes you can catch some real dramatic backdrops looking down on the gliders with Rabbit Island, Moku-lua Island, and the peninsula that has the Marine Base, HI (called Mokapu) in the background.
During the winter months this is also the SPOT to go whale watching with a long telephoto.
