This is a shot from last Summer as I was limping back to the valley floor after a long and arduous journey to Yosemite Point. My hope was to get the moon rising from across the valley as I stood at Yosemite Point, but it was a cloudy evening and I finally gave up and started back down. This was taken about a 1/3 of the way down as I paused to grab several shots of the moon shining back over the valley lighting up the Falls.

On a side note, it took me FIVE hours to get to Yosemite Point (I'm not in the best of shape at the moment) and FIVE hours to get back to my car. I think I finally got back to my car at 2 AM before driving back to El Portal. It took me much longer to get back down as I had to pick my way along the rock strewn trail with a headlamp. What surprised me is that right before I took this shot, I passed a group of college kids on their way UP when it was almost midnight. Who does midnight hikes to the Upper Yosemite Falls? Is this a thing now?

In any case, I was very jealous of their energy and enthusiasm. I seriously need to get in much better shape before I try that again. That....and I'll ditch the D4 in favor of a micro 4/3rds camera and a gorillapod. :)
