The brown area (which varies in color) is the IRIS which is the donuts shaped portion situated just in front of the lens. He we can see the Constrictor MUSCLES which contract or dilate on order to let more/less light pass into the lens.

PUPIL is the hole in the center of the Iris which allows light to pass into the lens
