This was undoubtedly some of the best light I have ever seen. In all direction, the sky light up in the most amazing display of pinks, which reflected down on to the fresh snow. A small lenticular formation was just starting to form, mammatus clouds were bubbling in the sky, the creek softly rippled out my feet. I had been trying to get good sky and snow conditions at this spot for a couple years, finally on this particularly frigid winter morning I got it.
The only thing that makes this any more special to me is that MY BUDDY MILES MISSED IT! HAHAHAH!! He had be dying for a good shot from here, tried numerous times, was supposed to join me friend Sheldon and I on this shoot... but he had to work and we nailed it without him!
Honestly though, as fun as it is to rub this in his face, even years later now, I wish he was there with us. No other dude I'd rather shoot with. Plus, there's nothing like watching a 6'4 dude posthole while snowshoeing!
Just like everyone else in this crowded nature photography scene, I lead workshops, I teach processing instruction in person or worldwide via Skype screen sharing, and have a website with images, workshop info, prints, and yadda, yadda, yadda. www.ryandyarphotography.com
