This was the third February in a row my friend Steve and I drove to Yosemite National Park in a quest to capture El Capitan's elusive Firefall at Horsetail Fall.

The fall was not flowing very heavily because of a lack of precipitation this winter, but about a half hour before the sun was to set, the water atop the cliff melted just enough to start a little trickle.

The rest, as they say, is history -- captured forever on digital.

I'm happy to say seeing it in person after coming home empty the previous two years was even better than I thought it would be.
