This picture is a MANUAL HDR meaning that I shot 6 different exposures of
this London Eye scene and I blended them manually directly in Photoshop CS5
without using any HDR software.
I load them into a stack in Photoshop and then use the Auto-Align feature
even if I use a sturdy tripod to shoot the scene. There are always some
parasit movements because of the wind, mirror... and even the smallest
movements make the image a bit blurry. I know I should use the mirror lock
fonction of the camera but I get a bit lazy so I just use the remote, do
some bracketing and that's it!
I'll post a tutorial some day about my manual blending exposures techniques.
What I like with this technique is that the final result is very close to
the exposure you put at the bottom of the Photoshop stack so you can really
choose how you want to render what you saw and in a more realistic way than
with an HDR software like Photomatix Pro or Oloneo. I use different
blending modes types, I play with layer masks and opacity as well.
The good point also with this technique is that you can give a HDR light
range in only some areas of the photo.

This picture depicts the London Eye this winter (in February), the silver
circles in the trees were heart-shaped disco-balls that were spinning with
the wind.
