A striking display of the Northern Lights as seen from Sinclair Island in Lake Superior during late August. This was one of the most amazing nights for photography that I've ever had. I waited for the auroras all summer, and when I finally bit the bullet and traveled 14 hours north, I was blessed with them for two full nights in a row.

After traveling by car, ferry, and motorboat to reach this location, I really wanted clear skies to shoot the stars. I prayed for a break in the clouds, and instead of just a clear night, I got an explosion of Northern Lights. These colors are SOOC, NOT enhanced by saturation one bit.

Also, I just learned about the death of a fellow friend and inspiration here on 500px, Harold Begun. This is sad news, and we will all miss him very much. My prayers go out to his family,
