James I Chrismas

Restoration & Preservation - Lady Chapel, Chichester Cathedral

Clockwise from top left:

Some of the wall painting that was revealed when the masonry was cleaned.

A view along the platform that was errected to facilitate work on the ceiling. The near decoration was painted by Lambert Barnard in the 16th century.

Looking into the Lady Chapel during the work. The floor was covered with ledding felt (to protect against condensation being drawn up from the ground below). That was covered in polythene to protect against spillages and that was protected with plywood.

A craftsman working on a memorial.

Some of the more intricate decoration that was preserved on the ribbing.
