Our campsite on top of Cathedral Rock National Park. Giant boulders, sculpted rock and distinctive granite tors make striking subjects for photography. This was taken around 1AM under a full moon when the entire valley was enveloped by this thick mist. Behind the wall of mist is the Australian Air Navigation Facility which sits another 50 meters higher than the rock we were camping on. It was amazing how fast, yet delicately the mist rolled through the tablelands, just sensational. Conditions weren't as we expected with the temperature dropping down to -2 degrees early in the morning. Only having a cheap 2 man pop-up tent made it challenging against the cold winds. Fortunately we were able to seek shelter behind the giant boulder to the right which sheltered us from the icy wind, well at least until around 3AM when the wind decided to change direction. All in all it was a very successful trip, heaps more photos to come. Full trip report coming soon with more images on www.drewhopperphotography.com
