Taken on my first shoot with the Nikon D4. Pheasants are very active this time of year, and this one is mid display. For such a big bird they do flap their wings pretty quickly! I opted for a high shutter speed to try and freeze the action, and use a large depth of field to maximize chance of keeping head sharp during the movement. I was on the brow of a hill shooting downwards, so the background is a distant field, not fog!
