This series - 5 images, all of which are probably even more cool looking than this one ;-)..... took about 2000 images to create in early March. I chartered a boat to take me out over the open ocean to the GPS coordinates of specific natural oil seeps where the oil was bubbling it's way up to the surface of the water. It smelled terrible but it sure was a unique place and lets just say the abstract imagery options exceeded anything I've ever seen for just pure color and textures (which of course is why I came).

It's funny, because throughout the series there is no common theme. Every image is spectacularly different colors, shapes, look and feel. It's moving oil and it's refracting a huge amount of light because the sun is hitting the water right next to the frame - intentionally. Just the slightest shift in the camera and you can go from all blue to every single color of the rainbow and of course the texture is every changing too. All and all I'd say it was just about the most fun I've had shooting on the small scale, except the focus was very hard. 2 out of 3 of the images were out of focus and most were crops because it's just impossible to focus fast enough when your distance from the featureless surface of the water changes with every wave over the boat. Still....that's why you take 2000 shots.
