One of the nicest things about High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging is the ability to balance extremely bright and dark areas of a scene. This set of stairs at Fort Macon in Eastern North Carolina at mid-day, in winter with a clear sky, poses a particularly difficult problem for normal, single exposure photography. But thanks to the wonders of Nik and Adobe, we can now, with little effort, rescue images that would have been throwaways a few years ago.
