The Canadian Rockies is like a toy store to a child for a photographer, you could spend years here and never see or photograph everything. Sunsets I found to be the most challenging, firstly colour in the clouds was a rare occurrence in the 2 weeks I was there, but also finding a beautiful composition that could take advantage of the sunset was hard. My compositions would be ruined by trees taking away the clean uncluttered shots I love to take, the shape of the mountains wouldn't be dramatic enough to lend themselves to being in silhouette, and find vantage points that looked for miles through the valleys were rare.
I eventually did find this lovely spot, and spent a few mornings and nights waiting for the perfect light. Then one day I arrived too early for the sunset and just sat and waited suddenly an opening in the clouds appeared and lit up the scene beautifully showing off the layers of mountains perfectly.
