This is the conversation had while I was taking this 8 minute long exposure at White Rock Lake in Dallas, Texas.

Passerby: "What are you taking a picture of?"

Me: "That tree."

Passerby: "(Laughs to himself) It looks dead."

Me: "Yes sir, I think you're right, and it's my favorite tree out here."

Maybe it didn't make much sense to someone that I would be taking photos of a dead tree at the lake, but I'm thrilled with the results.

This was shot on a Canon 5D II that has been converted to infrared. I used (2) 10-stop filters to allow for an 8 minute long exposure in the middle of the day, and used the Magic Lantern Firmware with a custom 1:1 overlay to frame the shot as a square.
