Tuesday night I hiked up to Blue Lake in the Indian Peaks Wilderness with Will Shieh (aka stinkytofu), the road is still partially closed to the trailhead so we started our hike from the Brainard Lake TH. There is still quite a bit of snow on most of the trail so we had to navigate our way without a trail at times slipping and sliding all along the way. We arrived early to scout out the area, the fog started to roll in and we briefly thought it might be a bust, but slowly the skies lit up and before we knew it they were on fire.

This was a complicated blend, my 16mm wasn't wide enough to capture the entire scene so I took a bracketed horizontal pano. I did some basic lightroom adjustments, then exported to tiff files. I used PTGui to stitch each exposure individually and replaced each image with the next exposure to ensure the exact same stitch. Then I loaded them up as layers in photoshop and did some manually exposure blending using luminosity masks, Tony's new panel makes the whole process so much easier http://goodlight.us/writing/actionspanel/panel.html
