That large patch of bright sky caused me no end of bother on this evening at Porth Nanven, especially as it was directly above the big island rock just offshore. When I tried to control the brightness with a grad, it had the side effect of darkening the rock too much, leaving me with a top heavy picture. I waited in vain for some clouds to cover the gap, but in the end I decided to use 2 grads, one inverted to keep the image balanced. Even 45 minutes after the sun had set, the gap in the clouds (the only gap in the whole sky by that time!) remained steadfast over the rocks. The swine!
