Reflections, Yuanyang, Yunnan province, China

In early May, the rice planting season starts in Yuanyang, the water-filled terraces begin to take on shades of colors. However, there are still plenty terraces are not yet planted. The reflection of the Sun light can be very dramatic, it's the soul and signature of Yuanyang's unique stair terraces, as well as its photogenic appeal. Find yourself in a vista point that the terraces are backlit, this is the key to a successful reflection shot.

The UNESCO’s World Heritage Committee inscribed Hani rice terraces onto the prestigious World Heritage List on Jun 22, 2013. The winter temperatures here, although never freezing, are such that they only support one rice crop a year. The terraces are filled with water until May, when planting begins. December through Feb is the best time to photograph the water-filled terraces with brilliant reflections. May is the perfect time to photographing planting activities.
