The male Resplendent Quetzal is one of the most spectacular birds on this planet, and can be found only in cloud forests in the highlands of southern Mexico and Central America. Quetzals feed exclusively on the fruits of a few species of trees. The Resplendent Quetzal is the national bird of Guatemala, appearing on the flag and coat of arms as well as being the name of the currency.
