Yesterday afternoon I checked out the latest satellite images to see if there was going to be any interesting clouds in the mountains, it looked very promising with scattered clouds and very few clouds to the west. I grabbed my gear and headed up to trail ridge, the clouds were mostly thick and grey by the time I got there, but a half hour before the sun set some very interesting clouds started developing over longs peak and I knew I was in for a treat. After the sun set behind the mountains all the tourists left and I had the place to myself for the real show I knew was coming. I patiently waited for 15 minutes and the sky exploded in vibrant color.
