Venus in Transit (2012) is pretty rare event which, luckily, could be seen by everyone, provided they have special filters or glasses.
I decided to take a ride to Riverdale park to catch Venus in transit, and found tens of astronomers and photographers there. Unlucky for Toronto, shortly after Venus started it's transit, the skies turned grey.
This shot is just minutes before it was covered by clouds intil the rest of the evening.
To catch the Venus, I used 3 filters (ND2, ND4 and ND8) due to lack of any special solar filters, and used manual mode with 1/4000, f/45 and ISO100 or L, all mounted on a tripod with Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 70-200 mm f/4.0L + 1.4x Extender. This is a very cropped version, nearly 1:1 pixel size.
