This is a was a very interesting and unique lake to me. What you're looking at is north of most of us in BC's Coastal Mountains, not all that far from the Alaskan border. Most features whether they be glaciers, lakes or peaks have no name up here. This particular lake was too new to have a name, as it just melted out of the glacier last decade. The ripples on the surface of the lake here don't come from wind, but from enormous blocks of ice falling off the glacier into it on the far end! In fact, at 3am I heard a thunderous crashing and went outside my tent to observe the mini Tsunami that was coming ashore! For this reason, no flowers (nor anything) grew within 10ft of the water...

I found these flowers though. Not too close to the shore but I used them well enough I thought, to be able to frame the peaks and reflections. The peaks are immense and spectacular here, as glaciated, steep and rugged as any I've found. I'm returning not too far from here this summer to spend a month in the wilderness alone, on the Alaska side of things. There's something about having this type of place all to one's self that is tremendously alluring to me and it is as close to the grandeur and power of nature as I have felt.
